'Blinds' is a data driven theme inspired by Mike Brondbjerg's "Blinds, 2 More London Riverside 08/05/2019 - 13:20". This is, in turn, a tribute to Ellsworth Kelly's "Awnings, Avenue Matignon 1950" one of the earliest pieces of data art. Both pieces are recordings of the positions of Blinds/Awnings, respectively to create the data set.

While Mike was posting progress on this artwork, I enquired into whether this data could also be turned into MIDI. So Mike sent it over with an open brief 'perhaps sparse and abstract/modernist'.

All the sounds present are formed from exact data Mike sent. Put simply, the lead is playing each column of windows in turn. Each blind's position is connected to the corresponding note's velocity, which effects volume/timbre. The other elements are parts of the same pattern, with different sections omitted to allow polyrhythms to form.
